Summary
By default, Atria does not collect, sell or share your personal health and fitness data. The app has no Atria account, cloud database, advertising SDK or third-party analytics tracker. The only developer-facing exception is optional anonymous research sharing, which stays off until you inspect a real bundle and explicitly agree.
This policy describes the information Atria processes locally, the iOS permissions it may request, the optional research bundle, and the other actions that can move data outside the app at your direction.
Information processed on your device
Depending on the features you use and the data your compatible strap makes available, Atria may process and store:
- Your nickname, profile settings and training preferences.
- Bluetooth connection information, strap identifiers and battery status.
- Sensor readings such as heart rate, beat intervals and supported motion or physiological signals.
- Derived personal-fitness information such as resting heart rate, HRV, recovery, strain, sleep summaries, workout summaries and trends.
- Journal entries, confirmations, edits and other context you add.
- Local diagnostics needed to explain data quality, confidence and connection behavior.
This information is stored in Atria's app container on your iPhone. Atria's developer cannot remotely view it.
No account, advertising or tracking
Atria does not require an account and does not operate a user-facing backend for your history. It does not sell data, build advertising profiles, use cross-app tracking or include advertising. Unless you turn on anonymous research sharing, Atria does not upload your profile, strap readings, metrics, journal entries or diagnostics to the developer.
The App Store and iOS may process purchase, installation and system diagnostic information under Apple's own policies. Atria does not receive your payment-card details.
Optional anonymous research sharing
In Settings you can choose Share anonymously with developers. This is a gift, not a requirement. Every Atria feature works the same if you leave it off.
The Agree control stays locked until you open the in-app inspector and review a real bundle that would leave the phone. That preview shows the compressed size, a digest, and a sample of the allowlisted fields.
What can be shared
The bundle is built from an explicit allowlist. It may include heart-rate and heart-rate-variability series, sleep summaries, user-confirmed activity type, timestamp-shifted motion features, daily scores, journal answers stored as structured values, and coarse bands for age, weight, height and sex.
What is never shared
The bundle never includes your name, email, device or strap names, exact birth date, exact weight or height, location, timezone, or free-text you type. Absolute calendar dates are replaced with seconds and day indexes relative to the first day in the bundle. You are identified only by a random pseudonym with no connection to your Apple ID or device identifier.
When a daily copy is prepared
If sharing is on, Atria prepares at most one anonymous daily bundle after your chosen local clock time. The default is 3:00 AM. You can change the hour and minute in Settings. Turning sharing off destroys the pseudonym, so later shares cannot be linked to earlier ones. Heart-rate patterns can still be unique to you even after identifiers are stripped; the consent sheet states that honestly.
Opted-in bundles are stored by the developer only to improve Atria's recovery, sleep and strain algorithms. They are not sold, used for advertising, or joined to an identity file.
Bluetooth, Health and system permissions
Bluetooth
Atria uses Bluetooth to discover and communicate directly with a compatible strap nearby. Bluetooth data is processed locally.
Health
If you enable supported Apple Health features, iOS presents a system permission sheet. Atria accesses only the categories you approve and uses them only for the feature described in the app. You can change this access at any time in iOS Settings or the Health app. Atria does not send Apple Health data to the developer.
Notifications and background activity
If enabled, iOS may allow Atria to deliver local reminders or continue permitted Bluetooth work. These permissions do not create an Atria cloud account.
Exports, deletion and your control
Data can leave Atria when you take an action that uses another app or service—for example, exporting a backup, sharing a file, writing an authorized item to Apple Health or including information in a support message. If you have opted into anonymous research sharing, a date-shifted research bundle can also be prepared for the developer on the daily schedule you set. Once shared, that destination's privacy policy applies.
You can remove Atria's local data using controls available in the app or by deleting the app from your iPhone. Deleting the app does not remove copies you previously exported or information managed independently by Apple.
Health and safety
Atria is a personal fitness and research companion, not a medical device. Its metrics can be incomplete, estimated or affected by hardware and signal quality. Do not use Atria for diagnosis, treatment or safety-critical decisions.
Atria is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to the developer in a support request, contact us so it can be deleted.
Changes to this policy
If Atria's data practices change, this policy and its effective date will be updated. Optional anonymous research sharing is such a change: it is described here and should be reflected in the App Store privacy disclosure for any version that offers it.
